Nice hike, but very hot and humid. No breeze or clearings until the top. Bring at least 2 liters of water per person. No need to start in the middle of the night unless you're a sunrise enthusiast. Also no need for a guide; trail is well marked. Didn't see any snakes or ROUS’s (Rodents Of Unusual Size). 0930 departed Abraão 0955 arrived at trailhead 1215 arrived at summit 1330 started descent 1600 arrived in Abraão

The Stone Adventure

Such amazing views. The hike is tough (like really tough) but it’s worth it. I think anyone with a good level of fitness and determination can do it. Lots of people start the hike at 2 or 3 am (depending on how fast you are) to catch sunrise but we got to the start of the path in town for about 8am and arrived at the top just before 11am. We ate and headed back down about 11:45 and was faster going down arriving back into town around 13:45. We did it on our own and it was absolutely fine, keeping our eyes out for snakes etc. Many people do the sunrise hike at night with a local guide! Whatever time you go the views are amazing. There are signs going up but you must stay vigilant but some are hidden and there are several occasions where there were multiple paths and the faintest of arrows scratched into a rock to show which way was the actual path.

Great place. Unfortunately I got there in a time od complete fog. Check wheather conditions before you go :)

Trail is indeed difficult but view is super nice from the top - we took 2.5 hours up and 2 hours down, make sure to do the hike with sunlight if you do not hire a guide (so do not start after 12!) and enough water as you go up 980 meters! Follow the green signs (see picture), would only recommend it for quite fit people as the track is not easy and way down was not always easy to find.

Nice path trough the atlantic forest. Not difficult to find. You can do it with a cuide or not. The best is the view at the top, be shure that will be a sunny and clear day.

The hike is definitely worth it! I started this hike alone at 8:30am and only saw one other person; which was kind of nice to get away from people for a bit. The hike is difficult, but I thought there were enough signs not to get lost. Bring lots of water and snacks!
