Single-Part Polyurethane Paints – Urethane paints are also easy to apply, don't cost nearly as much as two-part polyurethanes, and have a long-lasting gloss. Two-Part Polyurethane Paints – These undisputedly look best and last longest. Many people would even argue they can out-shine a boat's original gel coat. The main difference at least in the states is that most house paints even exterior are latex based whereas marine paints are oil based. I too like the Rust-oleum oil base paints. 1 to the Rust-oleum topside paint; it is good performance for the price, easier to apply than single polyurethanes in my experience. When making repairs of dents and dings below the waterline on your boat, it is best to choose a flat marine paint that includes a hard, anti-fouling coat. These coats slowly release copper, which helps prevent the build-up of micro-organisms.
