Excellent service received from Carl who took time out to show us the ins and outs of all the available campers.

What a stunning holiday. The Western Cape is gorgeous, and we found the most beautifully tranquil, empty campsites, wonderfully hidden from anything but 360 views. The camper itself was our perfect companion. The right size, the right steadiness on uneven roads, excellently stocked with all the camping essentials, clean, and practical. When we picked it up, the handover was thorough and 100% welcoming. When dropping it back the service was more than professional, it was genuinely kind and caring. I'd go back with SA Roadtrippers in a heartbeat.

This was the second time that we, pensionado couple from The Netherlands, hired a motorhome (Standard 4 Berth) from SA Roadtrippers. The instruction at the Cape Town office is very efficient, thanks to a video presentation. At collection a 45000 rand deposit was taken from our credit-card. In previous years we hired a similar vehicle from Maui and although they might be a bit cheaper, the quality and equipment coming with the SA Roadtrippers motorhome was superior in many ways such as a larger high quality master-bed, larger refrigerator (110 versus 80 liters), one large water tank for toilet, bathroom and kitchen instead of a separate tank for the toilet, automatic gears and cruise control, a portable access step and much larger storage room due to the higher position of the master bed. We traveled up the West Coast, South Coast and Garden Route area for six weeks after the South African summer holidays had ended mid-January and enjoyed many (empty on weekdays) campsites that are scattered throughout the country. During this time, we only had a small problem with a leaking hot water pipe, which was resolved on site, the same day, by one of the technicians from the Cape Town office. We used our own TomTom Go 5200 as a navigation system, which includes a speeding alert and prevents getting traffic fines. Return of the motorhome also went smoothly and no problems were encountered concerning the refund of the deposit from our credit-card (within 30 working days), although we did lose some money due to the stronger position of the rand against the euro. We hope to come back next season.

What a wonderful experience this has been! We rented a 4x4 Double Cap with rooftop tents for over 3 weeks to travel SA, Namibia and Botswana. On arrival at the airport we were picked up by Werner in our vehicle. We then drove to the the SA Roadtrippers office to do the paperwork, inventory check and instructions. Werner and Amy took great care during this process, making sure everything was perfect and clear, and providing us with with all the necessary information about the vehicle and gear. They even helped us finding our first campsite for the day. The vehicle (Ford Ranger) and gear itself were in perfect condition and really well thought-out. The tents are comfortable and easy to pitch (gets easier every day!). It has a great kitchen with everything you need, and includes really nice extra's like a fridge, heavy cast iron pan, braai grid, large gas stove and much more. The vehicle is also equipped with everything you need for off-road driving, like a build-in air compressor, high lift jack, spare tires, etc. Thanks Amy and Werner for this great experience!

What the local staff say and what you will agree on when you pick up the car does not necessarily match with what the people in the office in Cape Town do after leaving the car. At the pick up of the car (BEFORE we signed the contract) we specifically asked what happens if we get a puncture (or a crack in the windscreen) (because it is not clearly formulated in the contract). We were informed that punctures are being repaired and that repaired tires are used but that with our chosen insurance (Standard) we have to pay for repairs ourselves. (Same with glass cracks). We got a puncture on our last day and agreed with the local staff that the tire would be repaired after we returned the car and that it would cost us around 120-150ZAR. When we came home to Sweden we notice that people at the Cape Town headquarters have taken much more money from our credit card, the cost of a brand new tire. When we email to say that the local staff already told us that the tire would be repaired, they suddenly claim that there is a policy of never using repaired tires. This policy is not in the contract we signed, we did not get any information about it, even though we asked (we got completely other info), apparently repaired tires are being used. Our car was very new (1-2 years) and nice and there was good equipment in it. However, the tires were worn, if we would have known what we know today we would never have accepted them. Tip: check the tires carefully and do not accept worn tires, you will need very good tires! Also be prepared that they may try to charge some extra fee when picking up the car that is not included in the contract you receive before. With us, they tried to add an extra cleaning fee to our credit card (before we even got the car). Fortunately, we had ALL the paper with us and we could prove it was wrong. They didn't take our money for this, thanks.
