Cheap and dirty. All good until it comes to manage any trouble. Use at your own risk. We are returning customers to Wicked but NZ office is actually terrible. Our trip costed us an extra 5,000 for a minimal damage (light broken) on the vehicle. They won't hesitate to take your bond in full without explanation or even replying to email or phone.

Why go with wicked when you could go with jucy? Nothing more really needs to be said than this. Wicked advertises itself as budget so maybe you wouldn't expect much anyway but we were still disappointed. Having previously hired a Jucy for similar price we instantly noticed the lack of suitable bedding, fridge and curtains. No one properly explained how to use the vehicle or let us know it came without any bedding. The fridge was just a cool box which we had to purchase ice for. There was also no curtains so absolutely no privacy in the van. Having hired a Jucy this was all included for a similar price. At the end of the day there is no reason to go with wWcked over a Jucy, they are much better in all respects.
Very unhappy with provided services. Very poorly run business.
Super great value per day especially for students on a budget! Camper could have everything you would need. The staff was very accommodating during the whole check in process which was great. It was helpful that it comes with cooking materials for cheaper meals on the road. Very satisfied with my experience using Wicked Campers and would recommend them to others considering an experience like this.
Worst company to hire a camper from! Do yourself a favour and pay the higher price at a different company. As soon as you get into an accident or damage the car you will get into serious trouble with Wicked in NZ and they will let you bleed till they have all their money. They offer no support, let you pay as much as they can let you pay and don't stand their word/ contract. We didnt even get our money back that we had to pay to the roadside assistance (which was included in their insurance. The insurance is useless by the way but you have to take it or they make you pay for additional drivers, foreign/int. drivers license and so on). The reason why they can rip you off is because you are most likely a tourist that leaves the country soon after the trip. So you won't have a chance to bring your lawyer and get what you deserve. If you try to contact them after your trip and want something still...sorry but you won't get an answer. Don't let yourself down to this! I know the prices can be good but what you get for it is not worth it. 1. Old car in bad circumstances 2.Additional payments for insurance which makes it not so cheap at the end because it also doesn't cover anything if you carefully read the contract 3.Total ripoff in case something happens plus they won't help you if you call any of their numbers.
If your in low budget this is your company. But keep in mind they are old and creepy. And they didn't work as good as we thought. On top of everything we wanted to change the drop off location and took us a while to figure out everything with the company.
AVOID. Terrible. Liars, thieves, hidden costs. Terrible customer service and staff. Absolutely do not use this company in NZ. I'm disgusted by them.
The most horrible ripoff imaginable!! My Dad and I booked a last minute NZ trip so couldn't get a camper van from Auckland to Queenstown, we had to book two separately with the swap point in Christchurch. Our first van with Kiwi campers was great: plenty of room, good bed with bedding provided and lots of storage. We knew the car (wouldn't really call it a van) with Wicked was going to be smaller (and for a similar price), so I didn't have high hopes heading in anyway. Once we picked the car up and got to our campsite in Christchurch, we noticed there wasn't any bedding or pillows. We thought this must've been a mistake, so called them. We were rudely told 'did you read the fine print?' Of course we didn't, who does. And what kind of company makes their customers buy their own bedding when they're travelling? I didn't think that could exist, just ridiculous. Not to mention the electric windows broke and they had to bring us a replacement vehicle. My biggest grievance with them though was their outrageous one way fee. Kiwi campers charged a 250 one way fee, but this is probably fair enough, as we crossed from the North to South Island. But Wicked campers charged a 500 one way fee!! This is just freaking ridiculous seeing that we only went from Christchurch to Queenstown, both on the South Island. Just an absolute joke. I emailed them to complain about all this and of course never received a reply. Stay well clear of this terrible company!
