Most serene place teeming with bird life. A safe haven for paradise ducks and black swans. There are a couple of beaches you can beach your canoe at, and take a breather. Watch out for birds eggs. Saw some huge paradise duck eggs.

I grew up at 11 Kibblewhite Street, overlooking the island. I was told it was formed when a straight cut was dredged to take the river to the west of what became the island. The higher ground making up the spine of the island was formed from the spoils of the dredging. The story (or rumour) that was going round when I was little was that naughty boys had been digging tunnels in the soft ground, which collapsed, killing one of them.
