Tunnel Beach Track, Blackhead

Truly hidden gem. Never miss and must visit place. Just 20 min drive from Dunedin city. Get ready for steep walk and climb back. Give about an hour and half. Must walk down the Tunnel and experience huge cliffs and rocks with battering waves.

Hidden gem. Was blown away with the beautiful view.
A truly amazing piece of coastline and so close to the city of Dunedin. Track is a prolonged walk with fairly steep gradient. The walk is worth the effort for sure
Visually stunning. Would be good to have info board about history of the tunnel to the beach. I understand it was created to provide access for the landowners children (Cargill's Castle?) to swim. Very big surf the day I visited! Definitely not good for swimming that day!
A great walk to stretch the legs. Bonus there is a tunnel
Really good test for your fitness. Track is well formed but quite steep.
Well worth the walk back up
Beautiful walk, sea lion was asleep at beach down the bottom. Quite a hike on the way back so keep in mind if you have people with limited ability or small children not suitable for prams
