Great food. Definately a great variety of local food. We had a platter of meats and cheeses and a great celery soup
like
Delicious flavours from the local area. The hall itself has a stunning timber ceiling with ham hanging for dry ageing.
Awesome hall setting, pretty interesting selection of meats, we only had a small sausage tasting and warm ham Flemish style. It was a pretty dark and cold day, so I think in a sunny summer day the place would be really lively
The place is very historic and cool. I came around 230pm when it was still open for lunch but people were more focused on cleaning up and I felt like I was in the way almost. I ha the Waterzooi which was objectively a great meal - very delicious and balanced. Chicken pieces were tender and the vegetables were fresh.
I would give it 5 stars if the service was better. The food was delicious. It is in the historic building where all the meats were sold. They have menus in multiple languages but not all the staff speak those languages. When we picked items off the English menu, the waiter needed to grab a local menu to understand what it was. Special ordering like \hold this\ or no continents can be challenging depending on the wait staff's language skills. Took even longer to pay than order.
Lovely medieval building, once a meat market, with hams air drying from the rafters.
Promotion center for original Flemish Jenever and other Flemish specialities.
Can't go wrong with a local meat sampler.
