Hale Mauka Makai was everything my family and I hoped it would be and more. My husband, two daughters (ages 9 and 12) and I are from Rhode Island and have never been off the East Coast. We were very excited to be spending 10 days in Maui! It has always been our dream vacation and Hale Mauka Makai lived up to every expectation we had (and then some!). Claudia and Kevin were the perfect hosts. They gave us a detailed tour of the house and the grounds so that we were completely comfortable with everything that the property had to offer us. After the tour we did not see them for the rest of our time there...they understood that we would want our privacy during our stay in this amazing home. The house was pristine and beautifully decorated. The pool was AMAZING!!! We made time to swim and lounge by the pool every single day that we were there (sometimes during the day to soak up the sun and other times at night swimming under the stars). 5 stars doesn't seem like enough when rating Hale Mauka Makai... It is perfection and I can't think of one thing I would have changed about it.

My wife and I looked at several houses on Maui but Hale Mauka Makai was the only one that truly caught our eye. For 11 days it was our own private paradise on Maui. We knew we wanted to stay someplace on north Maui, away from the resort towns and this house is perfectly located. The property and pool are amazing; we often spent whole days there not wanting to leave! We had fresh grapefruit, starfruit and passionfruit every morning. The kitchen was very well equipped, use the Nespresso and the Vitamix! The bed was super comfy and we loved sleeping with the windows open to the breezes. The house is extreemly well cared for and you can tell that Claudia and Kevin want everyone who comes here to enjoy it to the fullest. The towns of Pa'ia and Haiku are very close and have great restaurants and grocery stores. The beach in Pa'ia was great - don't miss the sea turtles that come up on shore every evening before sunset. Claudia gave us great tips on day trips, restaurants and attractions. But we are most grateful for her assistance in planning our 25th anniversary vow renewal on the property. She is a gem and we will never forget her kindness. You will be forever happy and grateful that you chose Hale Mauka Makai for your Maui escape.

Hale Mauka Makai was the perfect vacation home for my family of four. It’s on a quiet and private location, with the owners, Claudia and Kevin, maybe a hundred yards away, separated by open lawn, flowering shrubs and trees. The house has amazing comfort and style, with island décor and well maintained furniture. The kitchen is stocked with cookware, you will just need most fridge and pantry items (except for herbs, spices, fruits and veggies—more on that later). Outside the kitchen was a grill which we used almost every night. We loved the espresso maker, the accompanying milk frothier and the variety of coffees. Overall, the house is clean, spacious, and airy especially with the windows and doors open for the trade winds. The pool is great, and we were able to sling our music to a Bluetooth receiver and have it play outside while we swam. Nice touch, but it didn’t beat the wind rustling in the palm leaves. The location is fine, maybe thirty minutes to Kahului and an hour to Lahaina or Makena. However, just minutes away are the quirky surf town Paia and the wonderful family friendly beach, Baldwin Beach Park. The property is lush with trees and flowers. There is a garden of crisp vegetables and fresh herbs (hence not needing to buy your own). We were able to pick oranges, lettuce, parsley, papaya, and more. We were even given a frozen block of real coconut water to use during the week. Amazing. And the bananas…they were sweet and perfect, just the best. What made the stay special was Claudia and Kevin’s aloha spirit.
