Belanagar railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway station on the Howrah-Bardhaman chord line operated by Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. It is situated at Bally Jagachha Block, Belanagar in Howrah district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Number of EMU trains stop at Belanagar railway station. This railway station is named after Bela Mitra, a freedom fighter and social activist. This was the first Railway station in India named after any Indian woman. This railway station connects to the main line in bally in down and kamarkundu in up. Lesser number of trains than main line. Most of the time train arrives 10-30 mins late. People gather here for a afternoon walk. This station is under renovation stage. A 3rd new line was constructed few years back. Not so crowded, TC barely comes to this station to check tickets. History: The Howrah–Bardhaman chord, the 95 kilometers railway line was constructed in 1917. It was connected with Sealdah through Dankuni after construction of Vivekananda Setu in 1932.Howrah to Bardhaman chord line including Belanagar railway station was electrified in 1964–66. Generally people of Belanagar, Rajchandrapur, and Raghunathpur use this railway station most. This place is clean and more close to nature than other stations. Can come and sit and relax for some time. There are 3 platforms, generally platform no. 1 is for up trains, 2 is for down trains, Since new platform no. 3 constructed, Sometimes down trains arrives to 3rd platform and up trains to 2nd platform.
