Queued up really long to buy palmiers for my mother. Oh well at least it was cheap? And taste good.

We walked past here on the way to a soup dumpling place (Jia Jia Tang Bao) down the road, and we could literally smell the baked goods down the road. The long queue immediately drawn us in to work out what all the fuss was about. It was for something they sell in packs of 6 for around 4 British pounds - Butterfly Crackers. They are light, buttery, crispy - with a hint of sweetness. They weren't particularly amazing and was surprised that there was a such a big queue for them after tasting them. Perhaps it's uncommon to have a pastry like this in Chinese cuisine? But would recommend giving them a try if you're in the area as it did seem very popular with locals and tourists alike. Fortunately, the queue moves really last (likely queued for around 10minutes during a weekday lunchtime).
We were randomly exploring the area nearby, when I was drawn in by the fragrant smell of butter. My nose led me to this place. There was a heck of a line outside the bakery, but the turnover rate was fast enough. After around 10 minutes in the line and looking at what people where buying, we bought the "Butterfly Pasty." It is a croissant (iinm) shaped like a butterfly. It's freshly baked, it's crumbly, and it's deeply satisfying. It lives up to the hype!
Walk past the side of the Park Hotel and chances are, there’s a long lined formed outside it’s deli. I had no idea what the line was about and decided to take a peak inside. The aroma of baked goodies filled the air and those people were lining up for a taste of their butterfly crackers. Supposedly an institution. Oh well, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.
Well known for their butterfly pastry definitely worth a try if you’re in the area. Be prepared for a line, but it moves fairly quickly. Been here in the past and the quality still holds up.
Delicious butterfly pastry! Long queue into the street but worth it.
The lovely buttery butterfly pastries is a must here. There is a queue but the service is fast.
It is difficult to resist the nice smell from the bread.
