Great place to overnight. We stayed one night before a six hours hike and loved the location. The homemade food was delicious and the drinks aplenty. Hosts were incredibly welcoming and pointed us in the right direction when we needed it (also host forgot which day we were supposed to arrive, which would have had bad consequences for us hat it been a busy weekend). Small details we didn't like: the lack of electric plugs in the rooms, the corridor light with motion detector that turns on at night (the top part of our room door was made of glass, so we'd wake up because of the light) and the 8 breakfast which was super basic and wasn't worth the price (more like 5-6). All in all, we enjoyed our stay. Important to keep in mind: because of its remote location, this place doesn't have a good mobile network connection, and WiFi isn't available to guests. So make sure you won't need internet up there during your stay. No credit cards accepted, only cash.

Had an absolutely fantastic time at the Mödlinger Hütte during a hike through the Gesäuse. Wonderful warm and friendly hosts, good food (try the Schoko-Banane cake!) and drink, and surprisingly nice accommodation for a Hütte.
Wir waren letztens mit unseren Kindern oben.Wir mussten 3 Stunden rauf gehen....Es ging nur Bergauf.Das essen hat sich auch nicht sehr gelohnt.Wir haben hier nur eine Suppe gegessen für nichts.Sie war eh ok aber sehr teuer SICHER NICHT.Es tut mir sehr leid aber 3 Stunden rauf gehen? Als wir hinunter gingen ist meine 7 Jährige Töchter wegen den Weg der beim Abstieg so steil war über einen Stein geflogen und hatte eine große Wunde.Ich mein Ehemann und meine Kinde kommen sicher nicht mehr hier her!
Wir waren zu viert , zwei Paare im Winter über Silvester zu Gast. Die Wirtsleute, sind sehr herzliche Leute und Gute Bewirter. Wir hatten ein gemütliches Doppelzimmer , und im Selben Stock Getrennte WC,s und Waschräume. Das Essen war von der Suppe bis zur Nachspeise sehr Köstlich . Das Panorama ist fast schon unbeschreiblich Schön Wir haben uns alle Sehr wohlgefühlt, und kommen natürlich wieder.
Super tolle Hütte, nette Wirtsleute, Essen hervorragend, traumhafter Ausblick. Wer hier was zum Aussetzen hat, muss im Tal bleiben. Info: nicht bei Jochen Schweizer buchen, dann ist es günstiger!!!
