Nice place to visit for all Lord of the Rings fans. 20 minutes bush walk through an old forest!

One of the most Iconic Sights of Middle Earth to fans of the Lord of the Rings Movie Trilogy used in promos of the Films as well. Originally Peter Jackson's Helicopter pilot Alfie Speight shot the River from the air but it is very recognizable from the Lookout. BTW Alfie grew up in the Manapouri Area.

This parking area has a Locals Track to Post Office Rock Point and table beach on one side of the Road and a marked trail to the so called Anduin Reach lookout on the Upper Waiau River on the north side of the clearing. BE CAREFUL THIS AREA IS EASY TO GET LOST IN.

Der Weg ist ein sehr schöner Pfad durch beinahe unberührte Natur. Da dort häufig Bäume über dem Weg liegen, sollte man körperlich fit sein. Gekennzeichnet ist der Pfad durch kleine Bändchen, allerdings kann man sich trotzdem schnell verlaufen, da der Weg teilweise nicht zu erkennen ist. Um bis zum Ruby Beach zu kommen, haben wir keine 2 Stunden gebraucht. Den Aussichtspunkt am Fluss erreicht man schon in 20 Minuten.

Sehr cooler inoffizieller (und daher durch Freiwillige in Stand gehaltener) Track mitten durch den nahezu jungfräulichen Regenwald. Schon der Weg zum Fluß ist ein Abenteuer. Der Track ist gut ausgeschildert. Bis zum Aussichtspunkt dauert es ca. 20min (oneway). Man kann aber noch weiter gehen. An der Abzweigung muss man in Richtung Balloon Loop gehen.
