The 12th century Soumyakeshava Temple is a marvel in Hoysala architecture. The serene idol of Soumyakeshava, idols of pancha matrikas, adishesha carved from saligrama make this a unique temple. The paintings of Vijayanagar era on the abode of Ramanujacharya is another wonder at this temple. While the inner pillars of the main temple and the roof are intricately carved, the outer prangana built much later during Vijayanagar are plain. The Garuda Stambha was erected by Ramanujacharya as per the sthala purana. A must visit place in Karnataka.
