Sunehri Masjid (previously known as Roshan-ud-Daulah Mosque ) was built in 1722 by Roshan-ud-Daulah. In 1739 Nadir Shah invaded India. Forts and other properties were handed over to him by Mughal Badshah Muhammad Shah. Nader Shah faced rioting by the Delhi population on hearing the news of king's assassination A number of Nadir Shah's officers were killed. On March 22, 1739 Nadir Shah climbed the on the roof of Sunehri Madjid and observed that the public was rioting and he immediately ordered the Qatl-e-Am ( massacre) of the population. Within 6 hours 20000 people were murdered inluding childred and women.
