薩摩街道から天満稲荷方面に向かう道のことを「桜馬場」といいます。松崎藩主有馬豊範が築城当時土手を築き山桜を植え「桜馬場」と名づけました。全盛の頃、春に腰元達は花の下に集まり艶を競い、若武者は馬上に晴の姿を誇ったと伝えられています。現在も桜の木が道端に残り、枝葉や花が道に木陰をおとすなど、当時の面影が残っています。
