A new attempt this time. Visiting a spice farm. Not so much new if you come from an agro based family but for city slickers it might be a good try. The food was a change from all the rich sea food we were having at the hotel hence it was a welcome change. Low oil but spicy, aromatic and tasty. although the fare us basic but it consists both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Good for rice eaters, not much for roti eaters. The plantation tour guide was a lively one from a young girl.

The food was good. The farm is very well maintained. The girl who took us around had good knowledge about the spices and she explained very nicely about it. Overall the experience was amazing.

Calm n serene place.guides are so polite and provide extra information on various species of spices in the plantation. Food which is included in the ticket is delicious. The welcome lemon grass tea is very relaxing.

It’s around 3kms from the main Ponda city. Lots of parking space, and clean surroundings. The entry fee is 400 rs including lunch and guide charges. Included in the price is also feni a local alcohol. The food is veg and non veg u can choose or taste what u like /wish. It’s simple home cooked food and is tasty. Staff is friendly and they do have a 23yr old elephant. It’s crowded on the weekends. Beer, cold drinks water available at additional costs. Normal drinking water available. A spice shop is within the farm selling spices and condiments. Oils and gels also available all are hand made from the farm derived products. A wonderful experience and cool atmosphere to experience. A must try and worth every penny. Photography is welcomed!!!

It became commercial. We have been there 4 years back when we enjoyed the nature and food a lot. Now it's all commercial and didn't feel like staying there for much time

There are many spice farms in Ponda area and Sahakari Spice Farm is one of the famous and most frequented one. The overall farm is 150 acres but part of it (maybe 2 acres) is specially setup for the plantation tour activity. This is overall average activity which can be covered or skipped depending on how much time you have in Goa as there are certainly other interesting things to do in Goa. What to expect? The cost of tour per person is INR 400/- which include spice plantation tour and Goan buffet lunch. They welcome you with a lemongrass drink on the arrival and then a guide takes you through the tour of the spice farm. The tour is hardly 30 minutes and cover very few spice plants e.g. bay leaf, cinnamon, green and black cardamom, vanilla plant, betel nut, nutmeg, chasew fruit etc. Once the tour is over, they give an opportunity to taste chasew fenni. There is also a counter to buy any of the spice or ayurvedic medicines. Then you proceed for the lunch which is kept in buffet style in earthen pots. The taste of food was not very great but just okay. The kokum drink they served with lunch is interesting. Why should you go? 1. You have never seen a spice farm and interested to know more about spices. 2. You want to experience Goan village food. 3. You are in Goa for extended stay and have some spare hours and can accommodate in your itinerary with any other planned activity. Why you should skip? 1. If you have been to Kerala spice plantation tour. This one is not even 25% interesting as in Kerala farms. Date of visit: 27th Feb 2021

You are professional cook or home cook dosen't matter. This place gives you the information of various spices like Kesar, Ilaichi, Black paper, etc and most importantly the Goa's famous Kaju Feni. If you want to taste feni really good this place is better than any other. The guide will provide you lot of information on the various spices and plants. They also have spices to sell but the prize at which they are selling is bit higher than you will get in Goa's market Normally.
