Small, unmanned station. I had only seen it from the outside until this Golden Week. Used to using trains in the Kanto area; Kanagawa, Tokyo, Saitama, etc...; this was an experience I won't forget soon. First the ticketing system reminded me of buses long ago, no prepaid cards like SUICA or PASMO. Then the trains are diesel, another first for me. Quite different from the electric trains I'm used to, adding to my enjoyment of this trip.

A mini non-staffed station. Very different from typical impression of Japan railway system. Got here by first taking Shinkansen, transferring to a 4-car San-Yo Line, then a 2-car San-In Line, followed by a 1-car train. The JR was simply amazing that all types of trains were on schedule to seconds! I was the only passenger getting off at Agawa upon arrival. The 1-car train had a different fee charging system, similar to the bus system in Hiroshima City where the driver was also in charge of fee collecting. Not sure how often the driver saw a Shinkansen style of ticket because I purchased the Hiroshima-Agawa round trip ticket at Shinkansen Station.
