The concept of "Grad Wealth" was born, as one would expect, from its founders being young professionals at one point entering the corporate work place and investigating the options of sustainable wealth creation arising primarily from, but not limited exclusively to primary income. This process was not as straightforward as we initially anticipated and through our own struggles realised that professionals, like us, need a like-minded ally in this instance. Through our research and further understanding of building wealth through sustainable means we encountered the following key concepts. 1. Start young - We all understand the concept of compound interest but we don't always truly appreciate the astounding effects thereof. Albert Einstein was of the opinion that compound interest is the greatest mathematical discovery of all time. He was smart so we trust him. 2. Invest first - Vital to this phenomenon is the idea that one must save first and spend the remainder of disposable income and NOT vice versa. This is where a budget comes in handy. 3. Manage Risks - As we grow older, get married, build families and start businesses, we come to realise more and more that insurance is a fundamental component of a sound long-term financial plan. 4. Healthcare is central to success - There’s nothing more important than good health – it’s the principal capital asset of any professional person and the foundation of success.
