One of the biggest Library you'll ever go through in your life, You can take and read any book probably you'll get any book from ancient to modern and being a BHU student even you can borrow a book from 11AM- 3PM and can submit later. The atmosphere is really silent and you can study here with full concentration though concentration is depend on a person. Come and visit here even being a tourist you'll really enjoy the atmosphere and books collection of library.

The Banaras Hindu University Library system, the largest University Library System in the country, germinated from a small but precious collection donated by Prof. P.K. Telang in the memory of his father Justice K.T. Telang in 1917 and housed in the Telang Hall of the Central Hindu College, Kamachha. It was nurtured in its infancy by the renowned historian Sir Jadunath Sarkar. With the University taking shape at its present premises, the library was also shifted in 1921 to the Central Hall of the Arts College(now Faculty of Arts) and then in 1941 to its present majestic building built with the munificent donation from Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad of Baroda, on the pattern of the great library British Museum in London on the suggestion of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the founder of university, after his return from the Round Table Conference, London in 1931. Its majestic circular Central Hall has been furnished with elegant furniture's made of famous and rare variety of Burma Teak woods.

Spacious enormous and full capacity hall in centre at entrance then there's different section like Textbooks section where you've to study no books are issued from that section the book section at the other side closes @3:30 p.m you have to choose before this after the time it closes though you can issue book from counter and return.... the timing is fixed there as well except lunch break i.e I think @1:30 -2:30 p.m but counter closes before sometimes and return counter closes @4p.m after that no book issue or return is possible, still it's open till @8 p.m for study and no bags are allowed for that there's separate bag counter you will get a token like u get in temples for your lockup there's so many section if you wanna visit then come with your identity proof coz you're allowed as a visitor or if your freind or anyone is studying there you can come along with them as a visitor!
