How lucky I felt to spend a week of my life on this charming farm with its well-behaving, beautiful and dear horses. The owner of the Weidehof is Ulrike Schreiner. She is responsible for the horses and the educational program and teaches the advanced riders. A small team supports her; when you are more or less a novice in the sport, Jana will help you to improve your riding. Breakfast and dinner are cooked and organised by Frau Schneider senior who is friendly towards the guests but somehow not service oriented. She puts effort in breakfast and dinner and meat is always a big part of it. A few of the guests, including me, had forgotten to inform the hotel beforehand. This caused some stress the first night but the rest of the week was okay. Weidehof would not suffer from a new approach or working method, in other words, it could be more accommodating. I am not sure what my american friends would find about the water (Abendbrot/dinner) that have to be paid for upon leaving, and it ain't cheap (2 euros per glass). It would be nice if the hotel offered free tabwater, tea and coffee. If Weidehof needs the money - as I am certain they will - they should try to motivate guests to spend a voluntary contribution for their coffee, tea and waters. They could mention the purpose of this contribution, e.g. costs for the farrier and horse shoeing. Or, just increase the price for staying altogether. The rooms are tidy and neat but could use a bit of refurbishment and in my case, a better mattress. A great bonus of the Weidehof is the Ostsee with nice beaches. One needs a car to get there. A boat to the island of Ruden leaves from Freest and takes about 90 minutes (16 euro adults, 8 euro children).

Der Reitunterricht ist erstklassig, die Zimmer haben das nötigste was man so braucht, Frühstück war für mich auch in Ordnung und das Abendessen auch. Hatte eine wundervolle Woche dort :-)
Liebes "Weidehof-Team", wir verbrachten eine sehr entspannte Woche auf eurem Pferdehof, unser Sohn war glücklich, ich habe meine "Angst" vor Pferden verloren und meine Frau konnte eine Woche ihrer Passion folgen und war von der Qualität des Unterrichtes und des gesamten Reitbetriebes sehr angetan. Das Essen war sehr gut, das Frühstück reichaltig.....insgesamt eine super Woche gehabt, wir kommen wieder.....Sonnige Grüße aus dem Frankenland
