AFSIM envisions an innovative and competitive Myanmar agri-food sector, one which is able to develop the country reputation as a premium source of high-value agri-food processed products for the most demanding market- places globally. AFSIM mission is thus to assit this strategic upgrading of Myanmar agri-food industry, especially by developing the capability, profitability, and sustainability of all supply chain operators. We intend to achieve this through conceiving and delivering high grade advisory, management, assistance, and capacity development services. Our strategies are fully aligned with the international approaches e.g IFC, WB Microlinks, UNIDO Compete-Comply-Connect... Myanmar’s agri-food sector is at a juncture where it must evolve drastically, both to become more profitable and to satisfy quality requirements of consumers in-country and abroad. The National Export Strategy envisions shifting from commodity trading, which makes the bulk of exports currently, to the development of exports of high-value and safe processed goods. In order to tap on Myanmar’s vast agricultural potential, the agri-food sector should thus adopt modern production and management techniques and international best practices, which will allow accessing markets while balancing profitability and sustainability of food production.
