SMILE Myanmar (SMILE) is a non-profit and NGO headquartered in Yangon, with a regional office in Mandalay, which works with diverse people from all levels of Myanmar society to promote freedom of religion and belief (FoRB) and to protect the dignity and rights of religious and ethnic minorities. While officially registered in 2013, SMILE was founded in 2007 by our Executive Director due to rising intolerance and the adoption of non-secular viewpoints by minorities themselves. Our Vision is of a society where all people can practice their faith without fear or restriction and where everyone has equal opportunity to reach their full potential. Our Mission is to mobilise broad support for laws and policies that protect religious and ethnic minorities and to empower diverse people of Myanmar to be change-makers.
