I went at the end of December. A few days before it started to snow. The garden is quite unique to this area. It is different from the one in kanazawa and kyoto. The painting collection is master class. I enjoyed the painting more.

Highly recommended. Don't pass it off because it's out of the way from central matsue. Very beautiful Japanese gardens. Unlike others where you walk in, this you will admire from behind windows and behind fences.

The Humble World Trotter

You need at least two hours to enjoy the whole area. The Japanese garden is really well worth the award they have received for 16 consecutive years as number one Japanese garden. We went in end of July which is summer. The garden is lush green with nice settings and forms. Don’t miss this place if you are in the area.
