Been here a few times one and the food and service has been consistently superb. I highly recommend getting their green mango, peanut & stir fried snake bean salad. It’s a side dish and it is delicious.

Great restaurant. Staff very attentive and food was of a very high standard. My first time at 1908 and the night was for a very special occasion with a small party of friends and acquaintances. Highly recommended.

Great quality wines and seasonal food served in a timely manner by friendly, smiling attentive staff even though the restaurant was fully booked with functions and we were only a table of 4 non-locals there for a celebratory lunch. The atmosphere was great though a little noisy because it was so busy. Very stylish and comfortable quality modern fit-out and use of the interior of a former Methodist Church built in 1908. It also has wheelchair/walker/stroller access ramps for those who find stairs difficult to negotiate. All up a great dining experience!

1908 Cronulla is an exceptionally beautiful venue, redesigned from the hulk of a Methodist Church and turned into a stunning modern restaurant with a central bar Arriving as walk ins to an empty restaurant, it was obvious it was a popular dining destination for locals as the waiting staff tried to find us an unreserved table, which was a sparse find. After being seated a gourmet Roti bread with chutney was suggested, and it was an exceptional starter. Moving onto the main menu, there was a diverse range of gourmet options to choose from, many with extremely unique ingredients. The main meals were absolutely exceptional, as were the desserts. However, we found that as the restaurant filled, the restaurant was understaffed and unable to properly service their customers who were paying a premium. Recommendations for menu items and drinks were made, but some were subsequently forgotten by the limited team of waiting staff as they tried to focus on the larger groups, until we had to ask However, This is not to say staff were not providing excellent customer service. We also found that the rear of the restaurant severely lacked ventilation, and it became quite uncomfortably warm once the room filled. Overall 1908 Cronulla is a beautiful Modern Australian restaurant, but falls just short of 5 stars as they cannot meet the demand of their seated customers.

Hi all, I’ve been to 1908 a many times over the years, service is good and food excellent. However, went to my first wedding there on Friday and the experience was less than desirable. The food tasted like it was pre-prepared and warmed up, not the fresh out of the oven experience that you normally get. The shared plate barely had enough crackers and breads. The pork belly was disappointing. The drink service was rubbish, they had buckets of beers on the bar and it was self open and self serve. They would take your beers off the table but not replace them! So through the night we were constantly getting up and down (and this was the bridal table!). Towards the end of the night, one of the older bartenders started giving us lip claiming the tab was finished, he was promptly corrected by the groom who was next to us. They also employed a 17year old to wash cups at the bar, but couldn’t serve drinks - why didn’t they employ a proper bartender to promptly serve drinks? Definitely not the free flowing drinks experienced at most weddings. Also, how hard is it to ensure your guests have cutlery? Anyway, I would be disappointed if I was the bride and groom. Definitely below what was expected! Suggest dining there but not holding functions! Please pick up your game 1908, we want reasons to come back!

A nicely fitted out restaurant located in an architecturally interesting former church and library from 1908 (explaining the name). Currently featuring a new autumn menu inspired by fresh seafood, Asian & Italian cuisine, and seasonal produce. Presentation is elegant and service attentive. There is a wide selection of beverages on the drinks menu including imported beers and wines. There is a central bar area and their cocktails appear to be popular. We enjoyed antipasti and a squid ink pasta main, but the mixed salad with fetta was mediocre. Portions are on the small side so prices are relatively speaking high. Even when busy conversation is not hampered by undue noise. A 5 minute stroll from Cronulla railway station and the Cronulla beaches are a short walk away. Easy access by stairs and a ramp. Cronulla is a busy locale and street parking at peak times is difficult, but there is a free multi-storey car park in nearby Croydon St that usually has spaces available - ignore the faulty illuminated sign at the entrance that erroneously indicates that it is full.
