The museum is excellent. I really enjoy in there. We can see the organism that lives in the Okhotsk Sea. In the basement, there is a theatre room (show video every 20 minutes); it has real (I don't know to say) floating ice (?). We can go to a special room which has a temperature -18 to -20C. Really cool. On the top floor, we can see Abashiri Lake and the Okhotsk Sea. There is also a 360 restaurant. The food is delicious. Fantastic!!

The staff went above and beyond to make sure we could have a personalized tour in a language we could understand. (English, Spanish and Mandarin) they took a map out for us to point to our countries of origins when we couldn’t understand the question in Japanese. Upon finding out that someone in our group could speak Mandarin, they found a staff member who could give us a tour in Mandarin. That really helped us understand the exhibits in depth. Thank you so much for that! It was a very informative museum and they are very passionate in sharing what the town has to offer, pointing us to a cherry farm which apparently offers really juicy cherry pickings for the time of our visit. The restaurant was closed when we visited (pandemic-related perhaps). We would recommend anyone in the area to go and visit and learn about the endemic organisms that live within the drift ice environment. There’s also an observatory at the top floor which offers sweeping panoramic view of the area. They also provided a few photographic opportunities. All in all, we will definitely come back if in the area or bringing friends visiting.
