I came here to get my Japanese drivers license and the staff was very helpful considering that I have 0 Japanese! When I enter, I ask the front desk worker to guide me the right way. He pointed where I had to go. Then when I came, the worker asked for my name and took me to a little office to do paperwork. During the paperwork, they check your vision (the typical Japanese circles). Then I went to the counter to pay for my drivers license. After paying, I went to get a ticket for the picture. You have to choose 2 (4 digit pin codes for the picture). Then I waited for 1hr for them to take my picture. After the picture, we walked over to another counter and I received my license.

Came here for foreign driving license renew. (外国免許書き換え) 1. You should call them first and make a appointment in advance. Officers are nice and friendly. (actually funny) 2. They will ask you some questions verbally. So you better be able to speak in Japanese. (N5-N4 level is enough) If not, you should bring someone to help. Expect as there is no Fluent-English speaker here. 3. You need whole afternoon. Do not put any plan before 5 for sure... It’s just so many people at photo booth which you must take here. 4. It’s far from Akashi station. 5. There are 2-3 restaurants closed by. Seven eleven is 5-7mins away.

As an Australian citizen, I was exempt from completing any form of practical or written test. The whole procedure was seamless a few language barriers. I had to wait there the entire day, but between filling out paperwork and getting my photo taken, I spent 2 hours roaming the Akashi Castle Ruins! Nice day!

The process was easy and straightforward. The staff were also very helpful when you ask them anything. I would have loved to give the center 5 ️but the only downside of this place is that they don’t have anyone who speaks English to support English speakers. If you can’t speak Japanese, I would advise you go with a Japanese speaker (conversational level is ok, doesn’t have to be a native speaker)

Takahashi-san was cool and hospitable, a really funny guy who made me feel relaxed while sorting out the paperwork. Easy in-and-out process. To the boss-man, give Takahashi-san a promotion!
