There are some great snack stalls here. The ropeway is just 3 minutes long. 710 yen round trip or 400 yen one way (if you want to do the incredible but very long hike at the end of the ropeway) The view is amazing of the waterfall and surrounding areas but you won’t see much if it’s too misty/cloudy

The view is really great!!! If you using nikko 4 day pass, its free to ride the akechidaira ropeway. The view up there is amazing!! Very recommended to try this if you visit Nikko
Great way to see both Kegon fall and lake Chizenji. The rope way take only 2-3 minutes each round. In high season try to get on the bus from Nikko Tobu at 8.35 which will arrived at Akedachi stop at 9.10 (The ropeway open at 9 am) or you can get on earlier bus and wait 25 mins. Much better option than waiting 30 mins for ropeway and extra 10 mins for photos with other tourist in the frame. All Nikko pass do cover the admission fee.
After taking the ropeway up to the peak, we were able to see the famous waterfall and Lake Chuzenji in the distance. I was able to zoom in to see where the waterfall lands at its base. The view was great. At the peak, there is a trail for trekkers and mine it was steep and rocky when I tried to climb for 20m or so. Great place to be.
You got to come at the right time if you want to see stunning view from the observation deck where the 3 minutes cable car bring you. Probably the best timing could be during autumn. But if you're highland kind of person any season will make you amaze. You need to take 2 round trip ticket for 730yen or unless you want to go hiking after you reach the observation deck. Probably you could do that if not that not offer one way trip. From the deck you can see Kegon Waterfalls clearly using 100yen binocular. Highly recommended for a stop even if you are afraid of height.
Great view from the top of the ropeway view point. Worth few snaps.
It is worth to get on the ropeway to see the waterfall and mountains from another side. A few of pink sakura trees can be found there as well.
Tip: if you're using a car, when you're near the Akechidaira Ropeway use the left lane instead, it's less busier. There's another parking area on the other side. If you would look at last image, you can see the left lane, car traffic is starting to build up. The other parking area entrance is near where the yellow Toyota FJ Cruiser is parked. Enjoy and have a safe trip!
