Great Alne

We visited in March 2020. What a fabulous place to stay. If you like rural, then you won't be disappointed. As a family of three, the large room we stayed in was spacious and the decor immaculate. The proprietors were warm, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was out of this world. We can't recommend this place highly enough and plan to return when next in the area.

Evidently value their horses more than the people in their community. Navigating the footpath, which has run through their land far longer than they have been there, is like doing a challenge from the crystal maze. Don't go near the place if you have a pacemaker fitted or otherwise don't want to be electrocuted by the multiple electric fences that cross the path. But then again the hostility feels like part of their strategy.
I was on a dog walk and went though the fields on a right of way and in the one field they have moved the electric fence so close to the hedge that it was impossible to walk. So we all had to roll under it and I did get a shock. I think it is very inconsiderate of them to do it. It means we had to walk in the field were they had horses which as very inconsiderate and something that we as responsible dog walkers do not wish do.
Outstanding , I would highly recommend, great accommodation, great food and great host .
Great set up, lovely people, happy horses
