I really like Dr. Burke and his staff, all down to earth and straight forward. I had to have emergency back surgery done 12/28/16 and was scared s******s! Dr. Burke was very nice but straight forward. He made sure I knew everything that was going on before he left the room. Again being straight forward, (which I love) he told me what would happen if I didn't have the surgery vs. what would happen if I did. I was 30 yo back then and I rolled the dice on yes, lets get me fixed vs not. I don't think there was one question I had that he couldn't answer to the best of his knowledge. This made me feel more calm/comfortable as I was getting prepped. I honestly felt I was in good hands and wasn't going to be butchered while being put to sleep. As I woke up after surgery, first thing I noticed was my pain was gone and was able to feel my legs & feet again. Dr. Burke came into my room to see how I was doing, (of coarse me being doped up and green in the face) he still made sure I understood what he did once he was into my spine. He explained they had to do more than what was initially discussed to me before surgery. (I remember him telling me there could be more or less we have to do once we cut you open and start exploring). I still have pain today and was told that this surgery wasn't going to fix everything 100%. I already knew this upfront and didn't have one surprise after I recovered. I would say I'm 65% better than I was before getting surgery which was 0% as I could barley walk anymore. If I had to have back surgery again, I wouldn't want anyone other than Dr. Burke doing it. I know what to expect with him pre and post!
