Top tip. When leaving Christchurch and heading north call in. I Called in when passing by and ended up with a massive lu ch. Even had cheese cake for dessert as it looked so good. Large portions. Very fresh food. Service wonderful by a seasoned pro person. Nice fire and atamosphere too.

Lamb and feta pizza was one of the most amazingly delicious pizzas I've ever had! Worth the wait
Walked in, no booking, no trouble! Made very welcome, had a lovely diner, mine fish, his chicken with deserts to finish. Good price and top service .Highly recommended. That was first review, 5 star, now a new cook and standards have dropped. Last visit a week ago and one of the worst meals anywhere in the world! Front of house service was still great.
This has a change of ownership and is now a Mexican restaurant. They serve fantastic food and have great ambience. Our family really enjoyed our meals, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Now I'm hungry. :/
Very Disappointed from the moment we pulled into the car park to the moment we left . For starters no Mobility Parking and deep gravel parking area which made it hard for my mother who uses a walker to get through the gravel. Order was taken fairly promptly just before 12.50pm for a Lamb Feta Salad to be divided into 2 as my Mother is not a big eater. We also asked for an ice chocolate however was told that the freezer wasn't working. At 1.32pm I went and asked the lady ( Cooper Hair ) how much longer for our salad and was told as we hadn't made a booking that bookings taken priority. This is a roadside cafe on Highway 1, just South of Amberly. I wasn't aware for a roadside cafe that we had to make bookings. My mother then wanted to go to toilet and had to go up a slight ramp then step down to get access to the toilets. No set toilet for People with Mobility Issues. Another lady had to help her come back up the small step then down the ramp . When I went to pay the bill in cash {3 x 20 notes) was asked if I had smaller change for the 44 bill. I said no and the same lady grizzled that she had to take change out of the tip jar. I also commented that the cafe wasn't mobility or wheelchair friendly. Same lady said there had been no problems in the past. Overall her service and the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Will definitely not go back to this place.
Should have been great! The old medium rare steak issue. So pink and juicy is medium rare, not blue. As we got! Lots of restaurants get it right. Sent them back nicely, came back well done. Chefs revenge. Not good enough. Yet get it right. We loved the rest of meal! All it takes is a stubborn chef and you got a bad name. Blue is not medium rare. Also no black beer, no beer of the week. Come on copper road! Owners take note!
Was there with a friend a month ago. Dirty tables everywhere, and they were still not cleared when we left over an hour later.Took ages for the food to come out. Ordered the bread with mozzarella cheese, arrived barely warm so cheese was not melted, Had nachos which was smothered in sweet chilli sauce that simply tasted weird with the strong smoky flavours of the mince. Could not eat it. Appeared to only be one waitress doing all the work, while another staff just sat there and spoke with friends and watching when she could have been helping to clear the tables.
Really bad experience. The worst waitress I have ever come across. The restaurant was very quiet so no excuses for the total lack of attention, main meal was bought out before the used entree plates and cutlery removed, the table behind us left uncleared for 20 minutes. I ordered a pint which after all was one of the main reasons for going, to try their craft beers, this never arrived even though it was on our bill. No chance of getting any attention as the waitress spent her time in the kitchen chatting with the kitchen staff leaving all the customers with no one to serve them, as the duty manager was on her break. Total let down
