I usually visit this bookshop once or twice a year whilst on holiday in the area. Covid put pay to my trip this year so instead decided to order some books from Sam Read as Christmas presents. I canny fault the customer service I received. Will quickly responded to email queries and posted the books in good time. They were carefully packaged and well received gifts. Thank you Sam Read, can’t wait to visit you again in person soon.

Wonderful online experience - I live abroad and ordered some books as Christmas gifts to family who live in the Lake District. The website is very good and payment was so easy. Elaine was so helpful and was happy to fulfil my request of gift wrapping the books (at no extra cost!). I look forward to visiting in person in future, and highly recommend Sam Read.

I emailed the shop for help selecting a couple of books for my two year old as I was short on time, and Will suggested four books. When we visited there was a clear one person in at a time policy (which gives you ten minutes browsing by yourself): very reassuring and well thought out. Great selection of books, never fail to find investing reads.

Wonderful independent book shop selling books & lots of other stuff. Very engaged with the local community & puts on 'meet the author' talks at Emma's Dell which I love. Events are put on Eventbrite if you want to get a ticket. Some free, some charged for. Buy from here & ditch Amazon. Open 7 days per week too!
