Decent zoo and you can get here easily on the bus from Salzburg city centre. The animals are generally well cared for but a couple could do with bigger enclosures for the size of them and to prevent boredom like the big cats who sometimes paced the fence lines. Decent value for money though and you can spend about half a day here if you take your time.

I like the zoo. But I wonder how the animals stay in place There are souvenir shop, restaurant, some ice creams around.
The zoo is satisfying. Both families with kinds and single person can enjoy. We visited this zoo in first week of April, on a Saturday. Since it was Saturday, it was full of people. It is a large zoo located on the skirt of a hill. The kids reall enjoy it. There are nice playgrounds for kids. The animals are very close, you can even touch some animals. There are various animals coming from Europe, Africa and America. I was surprised by some animals i have never seen before. I do not exact name but a small animal living in river and on land, swimming quickly in the water..sea turtles...alpagas...they reserve large area for many animals..jaguar, sometimes it comes closer to you. Really worth visiting if you are nearby Salzburg
The Zoo was built around the mountain. Animals can have a near-natural habitat. Of course you will see hundred of dog also enjoying the Zoo with their owners
Not the biggest zoo, but we still spent most of the afternoon here and enjoyed every minute! The price of entry was very reasonable and parking was free which is always nice. The fact that they allow dogs was a huge bonus for us. Our pup was happy to be able to come along on our visit and they provide many water bowls throughout the park.
A lovely place where you can spend a wonderful day with your family. I like that, feel so close to the animals. My kid was very impressed. Love it!
Perfect for children
Great zoo, one of the best I had a chance to visit! You can pet and feed some of the animals, at the entrance you can get a bag of treats for goats, sheep and alpacas. There are also places where you can get really close to other animals like small monkeys and parrots. The trip takes approx 3 hours, but it can get crowded - we got there around 10am and there were already some people there. The parking is free for zoo guests - you have to get inside and validate the parking ticket there
