Yes, I am married to the rabbi. He won over my heart with his intellect--full of compassion and love for showing how Judaism is relevant to our lives now, as we strive to grow, heal, and make our world a better place for the generations to come. The congregation continues its leadership in the community as the first Jewish institution in Ann Arbor that made the answer to the question, \Is Ann Arbor a good place to raise Jewish children? \ a loud and confident, \Yes!

Great community. New rabbi is scholarly and friendly. Hebrew school. Social activism. Avoid interacting with the permanent protesters on the sidewalk or you may wind up in jail. They've been there over a decade since the local shopping mall banned them.

The least friendly shul I have ever been to. I travel a lot for business and was at Beth Israel for Shabbos a few weeks ago. In the shul, no one greeted me or even acknowledged my presence - even at kiddush. The Rabbi was long winded and boring. The building is like a fortress with a set of solid wood doors outside and inside. No one was in the lobby when I arrived, and I had to guess that the second set of doors led to the sanctuary. In fact the only ones who greeted me at all were some weirdos protesting Israel on the sidewalk. Their signs were offensive, but at least they said \Shabbat Shalom.

A sanctuary for peace of mind and quiet time reflection.

My shul. What's special is that we don't pay a cantor. Members of the congregation (including yours truly) are called upon to lead services and read Torah. Yes, we're amateurs, but I like it that way! We're the shul that has the anti-Israel protesters outside every Shabbat. It just makes me prouder because it means we stand for something. Rabbi Dobrusin is the greatest, and Rabanit Kim is working hard on becoming great.
