My only interest in this park is for bird watching. The flowers are beautiful and well maintained, but it's quite a small park in a busy government park, and there's many places to see flowers. You can actually do quite well here during migration, especially on weekends and holidays when parking is easy and there's no one else in the park. There was a very reliable Red Shouldered Hawk nest here for a while, but the tree had to be removed.

Unfortunately the garden is not well taken care of. Went with family and it was just not a good experience.
I just went earlier today - It was about 20 degrees (Fahrenheit, as it is the middle of December), and despite the wintery look it really was a gorgeous little nature walk. The gift shop is small, and there's not much on offer, but it seems to be a typically underfunded little touristy area - It'd be great to do lunch and then sit out on the benches and look at the ponds when the weather is warmer.
Beautiful park, we went when the tulips were in bloom and they had an amazing variety of colors. We drove all the way from NY to see this park and it didn't disappoint us.
The gardens are very well maintained by an under served, part-time staff. Enjoy a walking tour with Lisa S. to learn all about the amazing variety of habitats our lovely state has!
