Kali Tiger Reserve (Kannada: ಕಾಳಿ ಹುಲಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿತ ಪ್ರದೇಶ; formerly Anshi National Park) is a protected area and tiger reserve. It is located in Uttara Kannada district, in Karnataka, India. The park is a habitat of Bengal tigers, black panthers and Indian elephants, amongst other distinctive fauna. The Kali River flows through the tiger reserve and is the lifeline of the ecosystem and hence the name. The Tiger reserve is spread over an area of 1300 square kilometers.

Kali tiger reserve. A disappointing jungle safari. First thing first, per person is 450/-. Secondly, all drivers will say, it's your luck if any animal you can see while safari. Hardly any animals we found. Hornbill, barking bear and monkeys. That's all. It was a botanical trip rather than jungle safari.. Not a real wildlife Safari...

I went to Anshi National Park with my friends in May 2013 and was disappointed because we didn’t get to see as many animals as we thought. That’s partly because of the weather which was not so pleasant at that time and most animals chose to be on their shelters. Accessibility was good and we went there by train. We landed at the hotel we booked at night. The area was largely safe from outside interference as the security there was very tight. The hotel was fine although lacked some basic amenities in the rooms. The staff was ok but always late on room service. The restaurant was good but again had limited items to offer with high a price tag. I didn’t eat much there and went to sleep that night. Next day we went to see the park and it was beautiful and scenic. There were waterfalls, unseen birds and other animals could be seen. But unfortunately not all the animals were out there and that dampened our spirit.
