I enjoyed the spartan decor which allowed the basic architecture to be on full display. The lack of baroque gold and over-the-top ostentation was, to me, refreshing. This is not a bold, must-see structure, but, with its retro, gothic floorplan and naves, it was strangely satisfying, and the dark, timbering ceilingwork made excellent contrast to the plain masonry. Finally, it holds a bizarre, paradable statue/float that seems more Classical Greek in inspiration than Christian (a seven-headed serpent), which underscores the madness that religion dips into a bit too frequently, IMHO. Your opinion is equally valid).

As with most architecture in Andalusia its a interesting historical mixture between the older Islamic styles and the post 'reconquista' Catholic styles. The ceiling in this church is magnificent and would really recommend an audio guide, especially if you are not very good at Spanish.
I have visited this site once before; once a night for a Rythm and Blues event and do not regret visiting it a third time and I am sure that I will return to enjoy it once again. A must visit if you are in Antequera
Fantastic church to visit and great views from outside of the church.
Part of the historical story. No longer an operational church.
