Very emotionally moving to see the names and pictures of those killed by the landslide. I still remember hearing about it that Saturday morning. The real memorial will be built in 2025.

It is a remarkable, emotional experience to walk through this memorial. Don't just drive by if you transit the area on Highway 530. There is a tree planted for each of the 43 persons who perished in the landslide in March of 2014. You will see pictures of some of the families. The terrain that buried the homes looms in the foreground. While the scar of 8 million cubic meters of earth that was released is prominent in the background. Its a beautiful place, surrounded by mountains close in. All of them must have loved living here.
