The guy running this place has done so for 52 years. It felt like I was visiting his home. He was so friendly and took well care of his guests, only me and my friend. The sushi is more than outstanding. The fish taste so good and is really tender. On top of that, the fish portion per nigiri is very generous. I highly recommend this place. After living a year in Japan, this place gave me one of my best sushi experiences. Recommend you to book at least 1 day in advance.

Loved this place! Fish was outstanding and the guy who runs it is a character. No English though so come armed with google translate (we were thankful to run into other westerners who helped us out with ordering).
A 52-year old sushi restaurant run by a talkative chef who speaks only Japanese. It seats only 14 or so, and popular with locals. The sushi is first rate.
Probably one of the best meal I had in Japan. Don't expect fancy sushi here but instead you get classic super fresh pieces such as toro, uni, scallop etc. The owner is very friendly and unique and it's fascinating to hear his story. Ask for his albums of Japanese stars that have stopped by his store!
The best good value sushi in Asahikawa, 3000 yen omakase, 8 pieces. The chef is super nice, it's a one man shop, and it's awesome!! He is 80 now and has been making sushi for 50 years. Although I do not understand Japanese (I wish I do), I could tell his love for sushi making!!! Highly recommend

数年ぶりにきてみましたが、どうやら閉店してしまったようです。電話をしたら使われていない番号と言われ、心配になって来てみたら、2階が火事で燃えた状態で、建物の周りを警察の立ち入り禁止の黄色テープで封鎖されていました。大将が無事か、心配です。 20180603追記 近くの交番で聞いてみたら1ヶ月くらい前に火事になったが、怪我人は出ていないとのこと。大将が無事のようで少し安心しました。
