Quinn'z Land

A great exhibition of Asahikawa's Ainu Heritage. It's all combined inside a whole house that was built under imitation of an authentic Ainu house. There were carved wooden sculptures, embroidered clothes, Ainu hunting and daily tools, animal models and so on. The guide wasn't so supportive so the only information I could get was from some printed glossaries and automatic video. The museum also offers Ainu and Asappy souvenirs, as well as Ainu clothes for visitors to try on (with fees charged).

上川アイヌの歴史や文化を学べる素晴らしい施設。私立の博物館です。笹で作ったチセや様々なアイヌの関連品を見ることができます。たまたまシャケの燻製をチセで作っている現場に居合わせてラッキーでした。すごい煙かったですが美味しそうなシャケでした。 冬は少々館内が寒いですが、防寒対策していけば問題なしです。
