Regular size car entrance fee 800 Once in a life time experience I guess? Viewing area restriction changes from time to time. Those with breathing or heart difficulties are recommended to not go near the crater due to sulfur dioxide gas emission.

Nature at it's finest! Where to start??? This whole place is just insane, with so many photo opportunities. There are so many different compositions in this area that you can pretty much just point the camera in any direction and come away with bangers! Read through to the end to a few of my favourite images. The Nakadake crater is a must see but the area offers beautiful views from pretty much every angle. There are many hiking routes that are, mostly, well maintained. There was still some small signs of the damage from the earthquake in 2016, but you can see there has been a lot of repair work carried out. Access was pretty easy from all directions but I would advise staying in the Michi-no-Eki in Aso, as it is only a 20 minute drive from the National Park Centre. I couldn't not see the water clearly due to gases but overall it was a good experience.
The place was great however we weren't able to climb to the crater due to amount of gas on the crater.
Great experience. Don’t miss it.
