To be honest we were a bit disappointed this visit. We have been several times before but this time all dishes were quite bland and alot smaller than normal. Hardly any noodles in the chow main and not much beef in beef with ginger. Way more onion than normal. Fresh rolls really bland. Spring rolls were good though.

People have been eating at Uncle Sam's since I was in school. It's a no-frills Vietnamese restaurant that offers very cheap and comforting food. I prefer authentic Vietnamese food, but if you're into the Westernised style, this is the spot for you.

My go to Vietnam fix in south auckland weather it be roast duck,soups or the all time classic summer deep fry spring rolls or deep fry crispy pineapple squids can always ask for meals to be customized....mint or pickled onion on side for pho' or added chilli in dishes. Place is very affordable for big crowds.and the smoothies are very refreshing# lychee/rambutan smoothies.

Depends what you order.I like the Julian.Hospitality is A.You write what you want to order.They read it back to you.To confirm.You can pack up what you want to take home if you can't eat it all.Im ordering seafood next time.I nearly forgot my bag.A nice staff followed me and called me sister.Gave it.Made my night.
