I recently attended one of the small business classes that the department puts on. I was VERY impressed with how informative and welcoming the staff was. Additionally, I was shocked how many programs and opportunities the city has for small businesses (and creatives!). They definitely exceeded expectations.

DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME. THEY SIT BEHIND A DESK AND HAVE A GUARANTEED PAYCHECK. THEY CAN NEVER RELATE OR UNDERSTAND THE HARD WORK OF A SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS. This department gets funds from HUD to help new and existing business and they have millions of dollars specifically small business. first the service stinks you almost have to begge to get good service and a question answer. They don't care they're guaranteed a paycheck. The requirements they put in place are absolutely out of line and don't make sense. They do their best to make the process extremely difficult and not attainable. What bothers the most is they portray themselves as championships for small business. It's all BS. It's almost borderline scam and Fraud. It's much easier to go to a bank or credit union.
