I never intented to grow attached to my backyard chickens. But when my top hen, Fantastic, fell ill last year, I crafted a makeshift cage and drove her over to The Bird Hospital. Dr. Burkett was wonderful: he provided thorough explanations of his testing procedures and diagnosis, demonstrated how to medicate my ill bird (which wasn't intuitive to me!), shared delight in Fantastic's funny and bold personality, and followed up via phone to get a sense of her progress. As a relatively new chicken owner, I gained knowledge and confidence about how to better care for my flock (which Fannie, I'm happy to stay, is still directing with vim and vigor).

Dr.Burkett is truly a gem, so kind and professional. I took my sick chicken in to see him, on a Thursday when they are closed. He met me at the clinic and humanely euthanized my sweet girl. Will definitely be back to see him if any more issues arise with my chickens, the time and the care he took today meant so much to me.

Dr. Burkett is the best! I never feel rushed while we're there and he's always very kind and careful with my lovebird. They also have a great toy section for birds of all sizes and offer boarding!

Very grateful for this vet and staff for humanely euthanizing our favorite hen yesterday who was very sick.

I just moved to North Carolina from Denver about a month ago, and was needing to find a doctor for my Turtle Doves. Based on Google Ratings, I went to Dr. Burkett. My \Mama Dove\ was unable to hold onto her perch and was dragging herself around the bottom of her cage. During the hour I spent with Dr. Burkett, I felt that I had to practically pry every word out of him. He was non-commital but agreed with me that something was probably wrong with my dove. He did not suggest any diagnostic follow-up. The next day, I took her to a eal\ clinic who diagnosed her with advanced cancer, and unfortunately, had to have her euthanized. Dr. Burkett may be fine for \Birdie Boutique\ things, but is not the clinic for critical care diagnostics. They called the next day to check up with me. They were sorry to hear my story but have not followed up since.
