Terrible experience. The fees were twice what other agencies charge and once I moved in, a couple of weeks later I was sent a letter by a solicitor saying that the landlord was being taken to court by their bank for not paying the mortgage in ages! The agency had always been evasive about getting back to me and evidently Bank House Properties hadn't actually spoken to the landlord in 18 months and despite doing everything except a cavity search on me, hadn't checked that the landlord was still able to rent out the property. They couldn't get a response from the landlord, so I moved out, having to pack up and pay agency and removal fees all over again and I was then told that I couldn't have my deposit back! Bank House were unsympathetic so I had to write directly to the landlord and beg. Thankfully the landlord released my deposit and the property was put up for sale. The letting agency were incompetent, unfeeling and left me, as a tenant, in the dark - the whole thing was extremely stressful and I should never have been let the property in the first place. They are firmly on the side of the landlord and don't care about the tenants. I asked for a refund on the agency fees due to the situation which I felt was partly down to their incompetence and deceitfulness, but they refused. They even have the nerve to act like they are doing you a favour. Zero stars wasn't an option, unfortunately.
