Best Advice: Don’t get sick in Spain, it’s not much better than getting sick somewhere like Dominican Republic. You really are taking a gamble with your life by coming to Barcelona, especially if you get sick. We went into the emergency room (“Urgencies”) at 1:30pm and it is now after 5pm and we still have not been seen by a doctor despite having low blood pressure 99/55 and high pulse. We did manage to see a group of maybe 5 or so residents sitting in a room like they are on vacation. We are still waiting to be seen. We hear a lot of “vale” being spoken in the rooms and hallways around us. The sad thing is that this is one of the better hospitals in Barcelona/Spain- so this is your best option- Good Luck!!! And may God help you if you are in a medical emergency in Spain, or if you come here thinking you will receive developed world/first world medicine. I guess all you can do is pray- which is good because there are lots of cathedrals and churches nearby. Update: After 5 hours of this horrible experience, the doctor told us that it was not a kidney infection and that we should go to a more general emergency room to be checked for a gastro or other issue. He told us to wait for the paperwork- we just walked out and are now going to another hospital. How this hospital is rated so highly boggles my mind, definitely some manipulation going on with reviews or something. We have wasted 6 hours of our day and not feeling any better. Would have been better off resting in bed. This hospital really is the worst hospital in the world.
