The Montjuïc Cable Car also known locally as the 'Telefèric de Montjuïc' is a beautiful, smooth set of gondola lifts... Typically there is less rush towards the late afternoons & evenings. It's a good idea to club the Montjuïc castle and the cable car ride. The views are wonderful and there's also an intermediate station in between where the car actually does a right angle turn. The trip is definitely one of the must dos' when in Barcelona along with the Port Vell Aerial Tramway which runs near the beach.

I would recommend this place if you have time. It gives a really good view of the entire Barcelona and Catalunya. You can go there by cable car or just walk your way through the beautiful mountain. I would recommend taking the cable car as it is fun and gives a different perspective. Try to book to the ticket for the palace online to avoid the queue. I experienced around 10 mins of waiting time. But that was November. The queue could be longer during the peak season. So booking tickets online would be better. The cable car tickets can be bought at the counter. The queues for this were a little longer. But since there were multiple counters things were moving fast.
