The first owner, Thomas Hartley, built this house in 1821, a three story dwelling with 2 bedrooms on the top floor. The original rooms are rooms 5 and 6 in this Old Settler Inn. This 186 year old Pub/Restaurant/Hotel. It is the oldest continuously operating pub in South Africa and a National Monument.
