I attended the week long Craft Retreat Oct. 24-Nov. 1, 2019. The week on every level exceeded my expectations. On this retreat you leave with more then craft projects, you leave with a sense of family, friendship, appreciation for the Highlands, comfort food, yogi tea, and traditions. Rosie and her family share the joy of their farm and love of nature in a completley selfless way. Joanie's spiritual energy is electric as well as calming. The group of folks attending this retreat all started the week with a sense of welcome and comfort and we grew to be housemates and friends. The fee is so reasonable for all the things you take away from the week - most if which is priceless.

Awesome weekend with Rosie! The course was very thorough and we learnt loads! Highly recommend doing one of her courses if you have ever been interested in natural dyes!! Thank you Rosie! x
Just returned from a fabulous week of natural dyeing and needle felting with Rosie at Wild Rose Escapes. We were spoilt rotten with lovely home cooked food and a really well thought out itinerary. I came home inspired and thoroughly refreshed. A huge thank you to Rosie and her team.
Gorgeous location, and Rosie and Alex are the loveliest people you could hope to meet. Rosie has so much dyeing knowledge and is very good at teaching through experience with a really hands-on approach, and she also gave time and thought to every question we asked. I went to a natural dye weekend here and had the best time, met some lovely people, bought a gorgeous silk scarf, and learnt a bewildering amount. There were really touching details like the hand sewn notebooks she made us for making dye journals, and the homemade lunches each day. I would go back in an instant, and recommend this heartily to anyone with an interest in any aspect of natural dyeing, indigo dyes, or eco-printing -- even if you already know the basics -- I found it very inspiring.
I attended a weeklong course which included room and board, a sheep shearing demonstration, foraging for natural dyes, fleece washing, picking, carding and spinning. Hand dyeing fleece, silk, and cotton with natural dyes, botanical printing, wet felting, and needle felting. Anyone interested in these topics, whether a beginner or experienced will benefit from the knowledge of the instructors and the interplay with other class members. The instruction was very hands on and easy to understand and follow. Interesting historical context was included when appropriate. Instructors were very open to questions and to sharing time saving techniques. Our accommodations were very comfortable. Meals were well prepared with a focus on health, flavor, variety, and aesthetics. Our lessons on washing, carding, and dyeing were at an off-the-grid croft; an interesting setting to learn about and experience. Sustainablity practices were evident at the farm, at our accommodations, and in our course instruction. Access to outdoor walking was available all week. I thoroughly enjoyed the structured class time and the hours in between. As a visitor from America, this was a wonderful immersion opportunity for learning about Scottish history, customs, and current culture --in addition to all the class topics that I mentioned above. If you are interested in fiber arts, you won't regret taking a course with Rosie!
