I went here for an ultrasound on my heart, and the technician pressed into my chest so hard there was a bruise that remained for weeks. Additionally staff were rude and unwelcoming.

Dr. Chitwood was my second opinion. He hit it on the nose. Thank you. It has only taken 10 yrs to get a diagnosis.

Several years ago at The Portland Clinic, I had what was later determined to be a severe vitamin D deficiency. In the years I saw Chitwood, he never even ran a blood test. The appointment that he told me \I don't know what's going on. Why don't you Google it?\ was the last. I switched doctors, got a blood test, and got a 3-year problem fixed. I wish I switched sooner. I mean, he's nice. But I don't think a good bedside manner makes up for allowing something so simple to go undiagnosed.

Made me feel like a nuisance... I was connected to Dr. Chitwood via phone around 9pm as he was the on-call urgent care physician that evening. Struggling with severe pain caused by sinus and head congestion, I sought relief. From the jump, his tone made it clear that my call was an annoyance to him. After describing my symptoms, he exhaled, exasperated, and said, “I need more history than that”. After sharing more context he asked, frustrated, “what exactly were you hoping I’d do for you?” How about your job? You’re the doctor... He eventually agreed to phone in a prescription but it was abundantly clear he wasn’t happy about it. I’m so relieved to know he’s not my primary care physician and I sincerely hope I never need after hours care during his watch ever again.

I recently established care with Dr. Chitwood after an insurance switch forced me to stop seeing my previous doctor. I find Dr. Chitwood to be kind, patient, knowledgeable, thorough and well versed in his field. I am a physician myself, so I have a pretty good idea of how other doctors are doing. In fact, I am so happy with Dr. Chitwood’s care that I recommended him to my son - the strongest endorsement a father could give.
