I joined the tennis club a few years back and only very recently started to play at beginner level (more free time now the children are up a bit thankfully). There are lots of opportunities for beginners and I have really enjoyed the club play sessions. During the pandemic it was an amazing opportunity to get out, see others and play tennis even with the restrictions. I've seen people of all ages and abilities have lots of fun together and I couldn't recommend the club highly enough.

This is my local club so its obviously the best - though Wimbledon might just edge it. Actually, it's very friendly so, if you're interested come along and see if you like it. There is a beginners session every Monday at 7pm and a lot of club play where any member can turn up and play tennis (Tues 7pm, Friday 10 am, & Saturday 2pm). The club also has an active singles league and knock out championships. It also fields teams (of different abilities) for inter club competitions. Cavehill holds weekly coaching sessions covering a range of ages and skills provided by our professional coach. There are six courts, and a clubhouse. You will almost certainly get a free court most days during daylight hours. 3 of the courts are also floodlit. However, all the courts are outdoor- so weather can be an issue. The fees are very reasonable - a fraction of the price of a gym membership - and personally I get so much more out of it. Come along and check it out!

My advice to anyone looking here is if you are looking to join a tennis club look elsewhere. If you are looking at playing tennis but not join a club there are free municipal courts within the area such as in glengormley, 3 mile water etc. Was once a great club. If you are looking for a club to join that is inclusive and welcoming this is not it. Plenty of free local courts in local vicinity. Unless you can play you will not be taken seriously and club play sees certain groups of players playing within their own groups. This used to be different but in past couple of years this has changed. The club is all about competition and entering teams into the B&D leagues and the Club have said that these entries have priority over court time. It's ok for now as no leagues are happening however but these look to be starting back up again soon. The club tennis committee seemingly can decide if you are worthy to be a member of the club or not.
